About King Richard III College
A small school with 350 students at the time of writing, King Richard III College is an international British school located on the outskirts of Palma, in Portals Nous. It follows the British National Curriculum and also offers the Spanish Bachillerato, making a truly bi-lingual experience in English and Spanish available.
Nursery, primary and secondary education, from 2 to 18 years, brings the school together and for some children, school becomes a second family with many completing their whole education there. Modern languages and sciences are amongst the wide range of subjects studied at the school and physical education forms an important part of the daily routine.
Service within the community is important and charitable endeavours are encouraged. Fostering a spirit of compassion, empathy and consideration is important to the school and thousands of euros have been raised by the school over the years and donated to charities.
This school offers British curriculum from the Early Years Foundation Stage and a co-educational Secondary School following both the British National Curriculum and the Spanish System of education, allowing students the opportunities to complete up to ‘A’ Level and Selectividad in tandem. King Richard III is a member of NABSS (The National Association of British Schools in Spain).
On-site facilities include football and basketball courts, fully-equipped science labs, an ICT suite housing the latest in technology. As the arts are appreciated at the school, there is an art studio and photography suite to inspire young artists. The school has a sports ground nearby with both outdoor and indoor facilities.
Whilst the school is able to accommodate most sports on-site, off-site facilities include an indoor pool, a sports centre, sailing club and a 350 seat theatre. Plays such as Oliver and Bugsy Malone have been produced and enjoyed by a wide audience made up of people from all over the island.
Extra Curricular Activities
Extra curricular activities are not only made available to pupils, but to their parents too. A wide choice of activities include languages, yoga, sports and even sailing at a nearby sailing school and are run after school every day.
Tuition fees range from 7,000€ to 12,450€ depending on age, and lunch and text books are included in the price along with transportation to off-site facilities.
Situated on a quiet street in Portals Nous, the school is easily accessible from many popular residential areas of the south west, including Bendinat, Illetes, Cas Catalá and Costa d’en Blanes. Thanks to the Ma-1 motorway just minutes away, many pupils attend from further afield, including Palma city – which is just 10 minutes’ drive to the west.
Facilities close to the school
The immediate area around King Richard III is one of the most popular on the island, famous for its restaurants, small beach coves and the exclusive harbour of Puerto Portals. There are many bustling independent shops and cafés withing walking distance, in addition to medical and wellness centres.
