This restaurant has now closed permanently.
La Celtika is a small French fine-dining restaurant. Brittany-born chef/patron Yann Prigent previously spent eight years working Galicia before opening here in 2013.
The dining room is small but offers an open kitchen and a front terrace outside.
Yann normally offers two tasting menus only. He is passionate about quality: he buys duck from southwest France, scallops and langoustines from Scotland; Atlantic fish from Galicia, and Mediterranean fish here on Mallorca. Some 99% of diners are foreign, rating this place highly on review platforms. The accomplished well-presented cuisine has delicious combinations of flavors.
Which chef or experience had the most influence on your own cooking?
Alain Ducasse, Jean-François Piege, Pascal Barbot, Alexandre Gauthier – just to name a few. I also had a really good experience with Pierre Morat.
How do you try to achieve work/life balance?
I have decided to close for two days a week to have time for myself and for my son. In life, work is not everything; there are more important things which we have to value.
What do you think the next big culinary trend is likely to be?
I believe that high-quality confectionery will gain more prominence in the next years.
What are your thoughts about the restaurant scene on Mallorca?
There is a bit of everything, to be honest. A few endeavour to work appropriately – with fresh products and of high quality. But unfortunately, the majority work with frozen or pre-cooked products and sell them as home-made to the customers. I think there should be a label for those chefs and restaurants that follow ethical rules in their eateries so that the tourists are able to distinguish.
