Welcome to the 2020 abcMallorca Property Special. This year you’ll find that the colour blue is a major theme, given that our chosen spotlight is on ‘living by the sea’. Recent events have made us aware of how important it is to feel good in our homes and appreciate outdoor space. Those of us lucky enough to be living in Mallorca with a lush garden, plot of land or access to the sea can truly count their blessings for what a friend of mine calls ‘quarantine paradise’.
As I’ve sat in my own garden over the past few weeks I’ve appreciated watching the rhythms in nature. As one flower withers another starts to show buds and so on. It reminds me of some big symphony orchestra where everything, in its own small way, is related.
Our narrative on the importance of sustainability continues to feature in this issue, as we look at how living trends are changing for the better. Turn to page 52 and learn how Nick Rosen went off-grid at his home in Sóller or page 64 to find out if the global rise in tiny houses could be the next big thing in light of COVID-19.
Head to Costitx to hear why nomads Jada and Baran couldn’t resist settling in Mallorca on page 58 and then to the shores of Puerto Pollensa on page 88 where we take you through buying property in the area. And if you’re short of some furniture, a trip to our must-visit stores in Son Bugadelles is in order on page 134.
We also feature a range of stunning properties currently on the market and others that we hope will inspire you when decorating your own home.
