The former Hotel Meliá de Mar in Illetas has undergone a serious facelift. New for the 2016 summer season, the newly re-branded Gran Meliá de Mar is a premium offering from Meliá Hotels International, the Mallorcan hotel group celebrating 60 years this year.
A plush, upgraded Clarins spa is just one of the features geared towards delivering a superior standard of experience for guests, part of the three million euros-plus project. In addition, the premium adults-only stay seeks to delight guests’ senses with a combination of art, food and the natural beauty of the immediate surroundings.
Gran Meliá de Mar has been designed to optimise its privileged setting in a private cove. All rooms have a balcony and spectacular sea views, and guests have access to both an outdoor sky pool and a main pool, as well as a Bali bed area and sundeck.
Gran Meliá de Mar restaurants
The new eateries at Gran Meliá de Mar have been as well thought-out as the re-imagined architecture, rooms and spa facilities, with three enticing options to choose between.
AMARO Lobby Bar and Lounge
AMARO is the life and soul of the hotel, where everything happens from morning to night in a Mediterranean atmosphere that takes us back to the golden era of the 1950s and 1960s. It serves a wide variety of classic and signature cocktails and Mediterranean bites based on creative tapas considered an example of fine dining. AMARO, inspired by the glamorous summers of the 1950s and 1960s, is a perfect place to enjoy sipping an aperitif during the day or in the evening while listening to jazz music and gazing at marvellous sea views.
BARDOT Pool Bar & Restaurant
Elegant and sophisticated, inspired by the classic French cinema of the 1950s and 1960s, Bardot is the place to be from sunrise to sunset. It serves a luxury experience with the best ingredients including fresh fish and shellfish, rice dishes, oysters and caviar.
ARRELS by Marga Coll
Marga Coll, a prestigious chef with many years’ experience in the food sector, heads a team in Arrels by Marga Coll in Gran Meliá de Mar that was formed around the stoves in her emblematic restaurant MICELI in Selva. The preparation of each dish involves a ritual that brings together the freshest quality ingredients and produce on the market. Every morning a variety of dishes are prepared depending on the produce found at the market. Arrels by Marga Coll serves traditional Majorcan cuisine accompanied by creative touches and a series of dishes for discovering the tastes of local fare.
