Project management and design firm LF91 have recently completed a genuinely exemplary piece of contemporary-rustic chic in this property – the simply named project 323. Located a few kilometres from Pollença town, the low-rise villa is overlooked by the dramatic rock formations of the Tramuntana foothills, which frame the picturesque surroundings of lush greenery and scented pines.
Newly built with the aim of reproducing the charm of a traditional Mallorcan farmhouse, natural materials such as honey-hued Balearic stone and reconditioned exposed wooden beams provide bucolic touches that sit amongst more 21st century elements. Polished concrete flooring and micro-cement surfaces create smooth, contemporary interiors that are both elegant and functional. The building is separated into two main areas by a long corridor which divides the living and sleeping zones. There are four bedrooms in all, with high ceilings creating a feeling of space and tall glass doors providing views over the gardens and, in some, the rocky surrounds beyond.
Bathrooms total five, with walk-in rainfall showers or deep soaking tubs ornamented with reclaimed hydraulic tiles. Climate control and heated flooring has been installed throughout. Also designed by LF91, landscaped gardens comprise tidy lawns, rock-lined flower beds, and a collection of native plants that include several ancient olive trees. The grounds also feature a good-sized swimming pool in which to cool off while soaking up the peaceful, Mallorcan countryside
