A beautiful authentic old windmill houses this popular restaurant on the outskirts of Santa Maria, in the centre of the island. There are a few different levels to the restaurant and about four or five different small rooms. In addition there is a charming patio with mature trees which provide welcome shade in the summer months.
Molí des Torrent
English, German, Spanish
Children are welcome here and there is enough space in the grounds for the kids to have some fun playing in the garden or in the small playground within the large parking area. The restaurant is a family affair run by the Himberts. The food is considered a bit heavier than the true Mediterranean, with a strong influence from Peter Himbert’s German roots.
The cuisine is an interesting mix of Mallorcan and German, with favourites like apple strudel and ice cream, and draft German Dom Kölsch beer on offer, as well as local specialities such as Sóller prawns.
The menu is adapted on a daily basis, using available seasonal ingredients. Molí de Torrent tends to be more popular in winter because of its location and type of cuisine. Service is friendly and one notes how experienced the waiters are – with a keen anticipation of customers’ needs. This is an all-round good restaurant, with consistent high standards of cuisine and service.
We love: Eating in an authentic former windmill.
