There are places we feel magically drawn to – to which we are particularly partial and that give us a chance to stop and think during our everyday routine. Nassau Beach Club is one of those places.
The indoor dining area is as sophisticated as any high-end restaurant in the world (there’s not a grain of sand to be seen). Then there’s the outdoor terrace, which while luxurious evokes the carefree nature we all associate with the beach. Finally, there’s the section on the beach itself, which needs no description.
Nassau Beach benefits from and thrives on its urban setting. The décor, known as ‘Feel the Elements’ leaves no doubts about the style and quality of venue.
There is wood of all types, shades and shapes, and full-length windows to enhance the spectacular views of Palma cathedral on one side and the picturesque harbour of Portixol on the other. On the beach side, there’s a rocky pier that fades into the sea.
Inside there is seating for 90 and outside a further 80, with a total capacity of 250. As with any beach club, fish is always excellent, with the salmon and tuna tartare starter highly recommended. The falafel starter is also a house speciality. There is a children’s menu, too. The full-moon barbecues are popular while the Sunday brunch from 11am to 3pm is a great idea.
The beach club has also built up a reputation for its music, with its Beats on the Beach ‘silent’ concerts, where everyone wears headphones.
Hollywood star and local resident Colm Meaney is a patron as are actresses Sonja Kirchberger and Allegra Curtis.
No cover charge.
Mains from €15 to €25.
Open 9am to 1am, all year round.
Parking and on-street parking available.
Look left, see the cathedral, look right, see Portixol.
Almost in the centre of Palma, this sophisticated and varied beach club is ideal for those who want to escape the city but can’t.
