The ‘Fira de ses Herbes’ takes place in the village of Selva, near Inca, with most of the activity happening in the main square, where visitors will find colourful stalls selling medicinal products. From homemade soaps to traditional liquors, the fair promotes the island’s natural produce, the main herbs being: rosemary, orange tree, Estepa Joana, myrtle and fern.
Since 1999 this fair has been dedicated to celebrating the incredible health benefits that come with using local Mallorcan herbs. Every year in Plaza Mayor, the myrtle plant – which is harvested from the surrounding landscape – is brought in to be distilled and made into a liqueur.
This is usually celebrated on the Sunday where xeremiers (Mallorcan bagpipes) are played alongside local dancers and performers.
