The 5-star Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel and Spa has a new general manager. Jordi Tarrida was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, to a Spanish father and German mother; they later moved to Venezuela, where he finished his school education.
He began his hospitality career as a receptionist at the beachfront Hotel Macuto Sheraton, Caracas, before studying hotel management in Germany. He then joined a sales and marketing team and worked in hotels in Frankfurt, Abu Dhabi, Madrid, as well as doing a task force experience in Tel Aviv.
Tarrida met his wife, Laura, in Madrid and they moved to Marbella, for his first general manager position – opening the Westin La Quinta Golf Resort. The couple’s two sons were born in the Andalusian resort. He subsequently spent three years as general manager of the prestigious Turnberry Golf Resort in Scotland.
Jordi Tarrida is now managing a hotel that, over the three seasons since it first opened, has gained an excellent reputation for unrivalled hospitality.
“I am very excited and fortunate to be able to lead such a dynamic team,” he says.
The Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa was named ‘Best Luxury Hotel Spa’ in the World Luxury Spa Awards 2014 and awarded the ‘Readers’ Choice Hospitality Award’ in the ‘Connoisseur Circle Hospitality Awards’ at ITB 2015 in Berlin.
