New Year’s Eve is a time of year to say goodbye to the year before and celebrate the year ahead and all that it can bring and Mallorca is up there with some of the major cities across the globe when it comes to celebrating.
The main celebrations take place in Palma with street celebrations all over the city. Dance to live music at the free concerts in Plaza Rey Juan Carlos I and Plaza del Cort, watch the fireworks over the Cathedral and see in the New Year by embracing the tradition of eating 12 grapes, one for each gong of the bell.
New Year 2019/2020 promises an exciting programme from 23.00h in Plaza del Cort with comedian, Xavi Canyelles, there to entertain the crowds and start the countdown of the bells followed by a DJ set from DJ Joan Campos. In Plaza del Rey Juan Carlos I, DJ Germans Colombàs will provide the music whilst a projection plays along the Paseo del Borne and The Beato Bang group will keep crowds dancing until the early hours.
Elsewhere around the island, there are various fireworks displays on the beaches and in the towns and plenty of restaurants, bars and nightclubs have special menus and events to ring in the New Year. Whatever it is you choose to do to celebrate, we wish you a very happy new year!
