The city of Palma is the location of the island’s most important art event, which this year will take place on the 19th, 20th and 21st September. The exhibition Corpos de prova by Lucas Simões will kick start the celebrations at San Francesc Hotel on Wednesday 18th Sept at 8pm.
This annual event in Palma marks the start of the artistic season on Mallorca. Thousands take to the streets to visit galleries and museums all inaugurating exhibitions on the same night, and to discover artistic surprises around every corner.
It’s the night when galleries, museums and art studios open their doors until around midnight and simultaneously inaugurate exhibitions. Palma’s vibrant contemporary art scene means that thousands of people take to the streets, wandering from exhibition to exhibition – often encountering art performances in the streets along the way.
As well as the organised exhibitions, there are always impromptu happenings, which add to the fascination of La Nit de l’Art. You don’t have to be a lover of art to appreciate this memorable and sociable evening although, increasingly, the event is attracting serious art collectors who come from countries such as England, Germany and Russia for private viewings before it opens to the public.
Now in its 23rd edition, this year will see the event sponsored by XOJAY, a design brand focused on creating innovation and inspiring spaces. XOJAY are passionate about supporting this year’s La Nit de l’Art and promoting the contemporary art scene in Palma.
The 2019 Nit de l’art will also see director Christian Tran present his film Terres Barceló (France 2018) where the floor will open for Q&A with the film-maker.
The La Nit de l’art is a memorable and unique occasion not to be missed!
