The city of Palma is the location of the island’s most important art event, which takes place on the 21st of September.
This annual event in Palma marks the start of the artistic season on Mallorca. Thousands take to the streets to visit galleries and museums all inaugurating exhibitions on the same night, and to discover artistic surprises around every corner.
It’s the night when galleries, museums and art studios open their doors until around midnight and simultaneously inaugurate exhibitions. Palma’s vibrant contemporary art scene means that thousands of people take to the streets, wandering from exhibition to exhibition – often encountering art performances in the streets along the way.
As well as the organized exhibitions, there are always impromptu happenings, which add to the fascination of La Nit de l’Art. You don’t have to be a lover of art to appreciate this memorable and sociable evening although, increasingly, the event is attracting serious art collectors who come from countries such as Britain, Germany and Russia for private viewings before it opens to the public.
It’s a memorable and unique occasion not to be missed!
