Alex and Susan Terry gave up well-paid careers in London to follow their dream of running a luxury boutique hotel on Mallorca. In February 2014 they opened Petit Hotel Son Arnau, on the edge of Selva and backed by the property’s almond orchards.
Located in two adjoining early 18th-century fincas, the spacious property has been renovated to extremely high standards and blends contemporary design with some authentic architectural features. The six individually decorated bedrooms include a junior suite and the main suite – which has a private terrace and direct access to the outdoor infinity pool and terraces.
All rooms have fine views and are well equipped, including coffee and tea-making facilities (with a Nespresso machine in the suite). Susan’s previous five-star hotel sector experience shows in the level of personal service here. Her husband cooks dinner four nights a week and there are also several good restaurants in the vicinity.
The choice of breakfasts is excellent and includes homemade muesli, which can be enjoyed alfresco on the dining room terrace.
Why you should stay here… The hotel has arrangements with a local fitness company and a green tourism business and can arrange activities such as cycling, hiking, sailing excursions and cultural tours.
Good to Know…
Inca – famous for the manufacture of leather goods and several outlet stores – is just a couple of kilometres down the road.
