About Playa de Canyamel
Playa de Canyamel is a beautiful, blue flag beach on the northeastern coast of Mallorca. It is about 10 km from the villages of Artá and Capdepera. This beach is surrounded on one side by a nature reserve and estuary great for walking and bird watching. On the other side it is surrounded by the relatively low-key and well maintained resort town of Canyamel, popular with Germans, Swiss and mainland Spanish visitors. It is a family-friendly beach and also frequented by older couples and retirees. At 290-metres long, Playa de Canyamel has fine grain sand and the water is clear, blue waters great for snorkeling.
Do note that this beach can occasionally receive heavier winds that cause bigger waves. Being a popular tourist destination, it can get crowded here in the peak summer months, but because of its size and relative isolation, it generally stays relaxed. There are onsite facilities including showers, changing stations and toilets. You can rent lounge chairs and umbrellas and hire paddle boats, canoes, and SUP boards. There is one beach front bar and restaurant serving casual, Spanish food and everyday favourites like burgers and fries.

Safety and Access
Playa de Canyamel is easily accessible by car and there is free public parking in a lot or on the streets. It is possible to come by public bus from the nearby town of Artá. Best to check the schedules ahead of time. There is wheelchair accessibility to the beach via a wood-slat walkway that goes from the parking towards the beach and along a little bit of the estuary and wetland reserve. This is also a good beach from which to anchor a boat for the day.
There is a lifeguard on duty during the summer months. This is one of Mallorca’s Blue Flag Beaches and it is very important to respect the rules with trash and clean up to main this important status.
