The Purohotel Palma is a 51-room boutique hotel with a modern design, housed in an 18th-century city palace. As one of the first boutique hotels of the city of Palma, it set a trend that seems unbroken. It is therefore no wonder that the hotel still sets high standards in terms of room design, experience, gastronomy and well-being factor and is one of the best in its category.
The hotel is located in the center of the Old Town (‘Casco Antiguo’) of Palma, in the old maritime district of La Lonja. Here you can find restaurants, bars and some smaller dance halls like the ‘Bodeguita del Medio’. The Puro boutique hotel is a haven of relaxation and lets you quickly forget the hustle and bustle of the city. Upon entering, one’s senses are instantly stimulated: chill-out music plays from the speakers in the hotel, scented air wafts through the lobby and the modern design with colourful artwork adorning the walls. In the small spa area with sauna, steam room and massage room, which you can reserve and use privately, you can really relax and unwind. There are numerous hidden places throughout in which to retreat with a book or enjoy a casual drink. In the restaurant and bar area with its comfortable sitting areas and armchairs, on one of the two patios, one of which impresses with a fantastic view of Palma which is higher than the building itself, and of course on the roof terrace with a small swimming pool. The friendly and well-trained team is on hand when you need it, but otherwise remain discreet which contributes to the relaxation even more.
The 18 to 55 m² rooms and suites are furnished with king-size beds, some rooms have single beds or these can be requested. Depending on the room, you have either a view of the patios of the house or of the Old Town. In all rooms, the stylish, modern design of the hotel prevails and high-quality stone, wood and leather materials have been used. In the double rooms, the bathrooms are fairly large and tiled with black slate stone, and the guests can use the Molton Brown products that are provided. As a welcome, each guest receives a bottle of wine and a bracelet of camel bones, which have been worn for centuries in the Sahara and are said to bring strength and happiness.
The Oasis suites are a particularly eye-catching and a truly luxurious experience for the guest. In addition to the usual equipment one expects to find in a hotel: a Bose sound system, large TV, bathrobe & slippers, there is a shuttle service to Puro Beach and the minibars have a fine selection of the best spirits. One of the suites has a bathroom that is almost as big as a normal hotel room, with a large round bath and two side-by-side showers. Although the suite has no terrace or balcony, guests do have the entire floor to themselves which is ideal for couples. The hotel’s other Oasis Suites are also stunning: one is a duplex apartment with large windows and exposed Marés stone walls, while the other has a private terrace with a Balinese bed.
Eat & Drink
In its Beatnik restaurant, guests can enjoy an exotic cuisine that draws inspiration from all over the world. Chanelling a fifties New York aesthetic, the cuisine is eclectic through its vibrant menu of dishes that include: TNT Prawns, Tuna Sashimi Flatbread, Chicken Lollipop and Salted Caramel Chocolate tart. Local and sustainable ingredients are used throughout ensuring that each dish is full of exquisite flavour.
The bar is frequented by many residents of Palma due to the ambience, good cocktails and music – the Puro Group brings out its own CD every year. It gets exciting when a DJ hangs out in one of the hotels or beach clubs of the group and the sound is heard in all hotels at the same time – a typical Puro experience.
Close to the hotel
A few hundred meters from the hotel you will find the port and the promenade, many attractions such as the Palma Cathedral and the Almudaina Palace, as well as the shopping area Paseo del Borne. It is worth exploring the small streets of the La Lonja district and definitely stop for a coffee in the beautiful Plaza Drassana and walk to the Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Following this, cross from La Lonja via the small Parc de sa Feixina to the trendy district of Santa Catalina.
