The restaurant Sol y Vida closed down in 2016.
Perched high above the beach of Cala Domingos, close to the village of Cala Murada, Sol y Vida was probably built in the 70s and, while it has been updated, it maintains its traditional, homely style.

Christian Schulz’s hotel management degree took him around the world, with Hilton and Crowne Plaza. In 2005 he opened this restaurant on the east coast, just north of Portocolom. Located above the white sand beach (with steps down the cliff), Sol y Vida has an elegant interior, picture windows, and centrepiece fireplace and chimney. In season, dine alfresco on the spacious terrace, adjacent to the cave-like cocktail bar.
Chef Stefan Gebhardt previously cooked in Michelin-starred establishments, including two-star restaurants Plaisance, and Le Pavillon de la Rotonde in France.
His international cuisine employs high-level gastronomic techniques, (including flavourful foams). Fresh fish (unfarmed) arrives daily; beef is from Argentina, veal from Charolais, and most vegetables come from a nearby farm. Bread, pasta, ice creams, and sorbets are all home-made.
Excellent-value weekly-changing three-course lunch menu (with choices). For dinner, the à la carte menu changes every three weeks. Impressive and reasonably priced wine list (Spain, Mallorca, France, Italy). In the Michelin Guide with two ‘couverts’ for service, comfort, and décor.
The restaurant is particularly busy in high season when the large waterfront terrace attracts many of the sunbathers from the beach below to enjoy the high-quality cuisine, attentive service and the privileged location.
