About Ola del Mar
After ten years as a restaurant manager, Guillermo Cabot opened Ola del Mar, a Mediterranean inspired restaurant located along the seafront in the charming village of Portixol, just outside of Palma.
Ola del Mar is open throughout the year for lunch and dinner, closing only on Sunday nights and Mondays during the quieter, winter months. The restaurant caters to couples as much as to groups, with two levels of dining space and two terraces from which diners can enjoy the scenic views surrounding them while eating and drinking.
Seafood and more
The menu is focused on Mediterranean cooking with an emphasis on local, Balearic fish and shellfish and using local Mallorcan sea salt and olive oil. It includes beloved Spanish classics such as paella and calderetas, a traditional type of stew that can be made with meat or fish, as well as lighter dishes such as tuna tartar, ceviche, grilled shrimp, and big garden salads.
Special events with a view
Ola del Mar is equipped to help organize special events, including family dinners, private parties, and business meetings. Upstairs they can offer a private lounge and terrace for up to 50 people that has views over the fishing port, and also has technical equipment for slide shows, presentations or other related needs. Downstairs can also be used for events, including another private room for up to 15, and the whole restaurant itself can accommodate up to 100 people, opening up the possibility for larger events such as small weddings.
The decoration of Ola del Mar reflects its name (waves by the sea), with white table cloths adorned with shimmering blue glassware, white wicker chairs, photos of waves crashing on the shore, and the welcoming, blue neon sign outside.
