Fans of Ritzi Puerto Portals – the Italian restaurant in the smart southwest marina – can now enjoy the Ritzi experience in Palma. Located in La Lonja, close to the seafront, Ritzi Palma is part of the smart boutique BO Hotel.
Regular visitors to Puerto Portals’ former Tristán restaurant (when it had two Michelin stars) will doubtless remember the restaurant director Claudio Marini. Claudio is now the general manager of the BO Hotel Palma and Ritzi Palma.
This authentic Italian restaurant is open every day for lunch and dinner and has direct access from the street. As soon as you enter, you’ll spot the impressive Italian ham-carving machine. The décor is contemporary and the place has an intimate feel, although it has 120 covers. As well as tables on the ground floor, there’s also a larger mezzanine dining area.
Ritzi Palma offers an à la carte menu of authentic Italian dishes from the chef Giancarlo Mellone and his brigade. Their kitchen equipment includes a Josper charcoal oven, used to cook seven of the menu’s dishes.
Italy is famous for its antipasti and the selection here is excellent. Can’t choose? Opt for the Antipasto ‘Ritzi Palma’ mixed selection. Ours was presented on a slate-topped wooden board and included: fresh salmon with quinoa and avocado; a beautifully fresh seafood salad served in a shell; tartar of tuna with artichokes; burrata with asparagus and Parma ham, and courgette flowers stuffed with burrata. This is a highly recommended way to share some delicious antipasti.
Our main courses were an expertly cooked sole meunière-style with sautéed spinach, and a 300g veal chop with a selection of vegetables. The meat dish and veggies were cooked in the Josper and perfect caramelization gave excellent flavour to the succulent meat. Spotting our veal chop, a man at another table gave us a thumb’s up sign! A warm apple tart with ice cream and the tangy Italian lemon dessert sgroppino ended our lunch.
Accompaniments (potatoes, vegetables, salads) cost extra and there’s a choice of sauces available to go with a steak. We like that the menu indicates dishes containing superfood.
As well as the à la carte menu, Ritzi Palma offers a keenly priced high-quality lunch menu, with a choice of three dishes per course. For a taste of ‘la dolce vita’ in Mallorca’s capital, locals and city lovers come to Ritzi Palma.
