The sun offers a clean energy source and at Roselló e Hijos they strive to harness it.
We know that the sun is a great source of light, but we can’t use its energy efficiently, if we can control it. Regulating the sun by a system of slats, not only filters the light entering but also allows us to save it – how is this achieved?
The regulation of the slats also reduces the use of air conditioning throughout the year.
With the summer heat, we must try to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature, it’s as simple as keeping out the sun during the day and opening the slats during the night. This way we can avoid an environment that is too hot inside and the requirement for additional ventilation. Similarly, in winter, we can reduce the need for conventional heating and use the warmth from solar energy by using the process in reverse. This is done by allowing the entry of light during the day and retaining the temperature created by closing the slats overnight.
In one particular home Roselló e hijos installed, the ‘Supernova Blind’, which by moving slats automatically, allows the perfect regulation of light, air intake and allows privacy. The ‘Alunova Blind’ provides thermal and acoustic insulation by use of a solid double-walled unit to ensure significant energy savings. It is a perfect complement to the Supernova blind, for those areas in which you would like to combine an adjustable shutter and a roller shutter.
Roselló e Hijos also installed a venetian blind with a wide blade to the exterior of the property. It is silent, and can be operated with electric motor.
These types of blinds effectively protect from glare. In addition, the wide separation between slats when in the horizontal position affords better visibility outside. This also provides privacy so you can avoid the prying eyes of passers-by.
They also installed a ‘Veranda’ awning in the renowned restaurant El Pesquero, located in the Moll de la Llonja, where Palma locals used to go to enjoy ‘variat’, ‘Martini’ and ‘patatilla’ in the era of the sixties. It has a canopy that folds parallel to the ceiling, with a slight inclination to provide welcome shade. This allows customers to be comfortable without the sun dazzling them and reduces the sensation of heat.
When preparing for summer nothing could be better than one of the ‘Algarve’ slatted pergolas and gazebos – ideal for shading.
This system consists of a completely flat roof, which offers a sun protection system based on a rotating blades which open to control the amount of solar protection and ventilation you need and close to form a waterproof roof with a drainage system. In a private house this can offer many advantages, such as:
- Silent operation.
- Adequate sun protection and ventilation.
- Perfect water channeling.
For another client they installed ‘the Vela’ awning, the perfect system for outdoor areas. On this occasion, their client needed to cover an area of 64 m2 – allowing the creation of a more comfortable, spacious and contemporary environment.
Another option requested by a client is ‘The Candle’ which is made of stainless steel and has a clear concave canvas which also looks very stylish. It is completely adjustable to any position with weather sensors (sun, wind and rain) and an automatic system that provides independent control and provides added security for the home as it adjusts to cope with storms or high winds by itself.
