Ryanair, which claims to be Spain´s number one airline, has found themselves under attack once again by the Spanish media.
The seemingly low-cost airline has decided to charge passengers flying from Palma de Mallorca eight euros if they want to take one of Mallorca´s famous pastries on board. Ryanair will be charging any passenger wishing to carry an ‘ensaimada’ or ‘tarta de Santiago’ if the delicacy is not placed within hold or hand luggage.
The tight size restrictions on hand luggage are 55x40x20cm – which causes a problem, bearing in mind that ‘ensaimadas’ are usually sold in hexagonal boxes.
There are fears that the charges could have a serious impact on the number of Mallorca’s famous pastries sold to tourists – both international and national.
