Saint James is celebrated across the island with traditional processions of horses, giants and drummers. The towns of Manacor, Binissalem, Calvià, Algaida and Santanyí are just some of the locations where you can join in the celebrations.
What to expect
The feast of Saint James is on 25th July, however the party can extend for over a week. Each town has their own programme of events which usually feature processions, live music, the emotive ‘batucada’ drummers, activities for children and an artisan market.
In Santanyí this festivity also commemorates the day the first stone was placed in the construction of their parish church. A horse show, called a ‘Jaleo‘, is one of the principle attractions.
For more information, check out the town’s municipality website in the weeks ahead of the festivity.
