Since March 2017, this hotel does no longer offers Ses Rotges Restaurant as such but only services of stay and stay plus breakfast.
French couple Gérard Tétard and wife Laurence opened this gastronomic restaurant in 1974 in their attractive stone-built ‘Petit Hotel’ Ses Rotges, Cala Ratjada.
Tétard was Mallorca’s first chef to gain a Michelin star for his cuisine (1977), handing it back 27 years later after restructuring the business. Today Gérard and his son William cook together; the charmingly attentive Laurence runs front of house. Eat in the Mallorcan-style dining room or on the delightful garden patio (partially covered). The delicious cuisine features local ingredients and more than a nod to the chefs’ French roots.
Lunch and dinner menus are the same: à la carte, Petit Ses Rotges (5-courses, 64€), and Ses Rotges Gourmet (8-courses, 99€).
Service is warm and professional, and each dish seems lovingly prepared and presented. Among the several dishes we enjoyed at the time of writing were turbot fillet with mustard sauce and vegetables ‘julienne’, and rack of lamb with vegetables.
Comprehensive list of French, Spanish and Mallorcan wines – including those from family friend Toni Gelabert.
The restaurant remains closed over the winter but will open again in March 2016 with some promising new dishes planned for the menu.
We love: Although the Tétard family has run this restaurant for 40 years, they seem not to have lost any of their enthusiasm for what they do.
