El Corte Ingles department store
If it is department store shopping you would like to do then the only one in Spain is El Corte Inglés and there are two stores in Palma – the largest one is in the Avda. de Alexandre Roselló and the smaller one in Jaime III. It may not be one of Palma’s cheapest markets but it’s definitely the largest and most entertaining. Recently renovated, it still has that haggling, bustling, fresh-smelling feel to it. If you love high-street shopping, then Zara is probably on your hit-list. Well worth checking out Zara on the Borne, as it has the pleasure of being housed in one of Palma’s most architecturally appreciated buildings, which used to be Palma’s main cinema before the global fashion house moved in.
Another Spanish high street favorite is Massimo Dutti for affordable fashion for all the family. There is a new flagship store just off the Borne and it is well worth a visit. Prices are generally lower in Spain for Zara and Massimo Dutti than in northern Europe.
Porto Pi shopping centre
This is a popular shopping centre with 140 shops and lots of brands such as H & M, Pull & Bear and many more particularly suitable for teenagers. Porto Pi is situated at the end of Palma’s Paseo Marítimo promenade and within easy reach if you arrive by cruise ship.
If it is bargains you are looking for then a great place to visit is Festival Park outlet mall which is located about 15 minutes from the centre of Palma. It is easy to reach the large shopping mall by train from Plaza España. Brands such as Camper, Reebok, Tommy Hilfiger have outlet stores here.
