Falstaff Magazin, the prestigious German-language wine publication, nominated Grand Vin Son Mayol the best red wine in Mallorca after giving it 95 points in a blind tasting of over forty wines from the island.
Chief editor Peter Moser, commenting on the 14.5% red wine praised for it’s strength, said it was “on a level with Rioja or Ribera del Duero” and gave it full marks. Another Bodega Son Mayol red wine, Premier Vin, received an extremely high 93 marks in the same evaluation.
“We couldn’t be happier with the award – thirty years of hard work have been rewarded,” said Son Mayol technical director Marie Barbé, who is in charge of the wine-making process from the very beginning to when the wine is finally drunk.
