Dear reader,
It promises to be another amazing year for tourism on Mallorca as we look forward to the new season in 2018. An abundance of exciting projects are in the works on the island; creative new businesses are opening, and with this, a flourishing of choices and possibilities.
New openings are the focus of this edition as we begin the season. Two relatively new restaurants deserve accolades; the delightful Sa Fulla in Palma, and a personal favourite, Tan a Gustito, in Magaluf.
Several boutique hotels are literally, opening weekly. In this issue, you will get a chance to meet Ilka Karl, the director of the highly anticipated Es Príncep Hotel-a newly built exquisite 68-room hotel that graces Palma’s waterfront. Across the Tramuntana, the boutique Ecocirer Art Hotel is opening in the centre of Sóller. The owners, Barbara and Martjin, have put their hearts into this soulful project, and you can sense it.
In the bucolic countryside is the recently opened VMG Horse Ranch — Mallorca´s answer to an elegant dude ranch — which has weekly riding programs for equestrian enthusiasts and novices, alike.

Well-known for breeding organic Angus cows, Son Mayol’s latest venture is in viticulture. Grand Vin and Premium Vin wines have been named the superlative wines of Mallorca, scoring 95 points in blind tastings. Craft beer is a worldwide trend and Mallorca is on the cutting edge. In this issue, we meet Belgian brewer Michel Campioni of Toutatis to sample his artisanal libations.
Mallorca´s growing popularity does not mean it still doesn´t have some secret destinations. Quite the opposite.….our Last Word on page 164 is full of ‘off-the beat track’ recommendations waiting to be discovered.
Enjoy spring on Mallorca!
