Remember that feeling sat on a beach with a pen and postcard in hand? The sun setting an orange hue across the horizon as your pen flows across the paper, telling stories of cherished first times. Perhaps it was saying Bon día to a local? Tasting Frito Mallorquin? Or cycling through the Tramuntana mountains? Whatever your experience, the humble postcard never fails to retain all the special moments of a holiday.
We at abcMallorca are excited to reignite this old-age ritual at a time of Instagram filters, instant messaging and likes. A notion that – inspired by our interview on page 76 with #thisisnotMallorca – has opened up a dialogue about what Mallorca really means to us.
Plastic pollution, traffic and crowded beaches? We all know that this is not the Mallorca we know and love. Therefore, as part of the #thisisnotMallorca campaign we would love you to get in touch! On page 79 you will find a #mymallorca postcard where we want you to tell us what Mallorca means to you. It can be written, drawn or even doodled, we really don’t mind, as long as it encapsulates what you love most about Mallorca. It could be a traditional Mallorcan restaurant that you adore or a particular beach that for you has something unique: whatever it is that makes Mallorca special to you. I cannot wait to see what you send us!
We want to encourage you to take your time this summer to truly absorb the beauty on Mallorca in its abundance of beautiful places and hidden gems. I very much look forward to receiving your postcards and finding out how you’ve spent your holiday on this incredible island.
Have a lovely summer,
Helen and the abcMallorca team
PS: Don’t forget to send us a postcard to tell us what Mallorca means to you #mymallorca.
