Tasca is the Spanish word for tavern, and this Marc Fosh property is a rather stylish yet relaxed version, serving the best of regional Spanish cuisine – including tapas that have wowed customers during TaPalma, the annual tapas-fest in Palma. Head chef here is Carlos Abad, whose career has included working at London’s The Greenhouse – where Marc Fosh began his career.
Carlos learnt about tapas and pintxos in Spain’s gastronomic capital, San Sebastian, and has also worked at the two-Michelin starred Mugaritz. His experience shows in the way he uses local organic ingredients to create exciting versions of authentic regional dishes, such as Rioja-style lamb stew, and fresh octopus Galicia-style.
Tapas, salads, egg dishes and good charcuterie all feature on the menu. The fantastic value three-course weekly-changing lunch menu, including a glass of Fosh wine, is worth a walk across town. Tasca de Blanquerna’s location, away from the tourist areas of the city, makes it popular with local office workers – who appreciate the efficient service, led by Aurelio Coronado.
There’s a real buzz here, whether you sit up at the counter – watching your food being prepared, or at one of the inside or front terrace tables.
