The restaurant was renovated and reopened as Bimil Lounge, offering cocktails with an Asian touch and healthy Oriental ‘tapas’.
A little corner of Asian gastronomy opened here in October 2015, when Korean owner Yang-Soon Kang opened this modern Korean restaurant just a chopstick’s throw from her successful (and more economical) Bi Bap.
Bimil is a tasteful conversion of a former bar by architect Andrés Serra. It has a modern elegant ambience with some Korean art and decorative touches. On the ground floor two tables by the entrance offer a view of the kitchen (and the Plaça) or there are tables in the basement and upstairs.
Bimil serves dinner from Wednesdays to Saturdays. On Sunday lunchtimes they offer ‘hoe’ and ‘banchan’ – Korean sashimi served with a variety of small side dishes.
The award-winning Korean executive chef Dong Jin Hwang moved to Bimil from Korea, but has worked in Hong Kong and France; the latter explains the cuisine’s elegant presentation.
Choose the five-course tasting menu (65€) or from the small à la carte menu, which includes Yusa duck breast (25€), and Galbi beef fillet (one of a few PSM dishes – priced according to the market – so you may wish to ask the price before ordering). The four Korean desserts are each under 10€.
