About Tess de Mar
This Mediterranean restaurant is in the renovated former coach houses of the 5-star Sa Creu Art Hotel & Spa in Campos, southeast Mallorca, which is open all year.
The hotel is a beautifully restored old noble townhouse in the centre of Campos and places great emphasis on its gastronomy:
Tess de Mar is one of three spaces to eat within the hotel (which has direct access from the street) and is open to the public, as well guests staying in the hotel.
The tastefully designed Tess de Mar restaurant has an indoor dining space and also offers al fresco eating on the hotel garden terrace.
Tess de Mar is open all day for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, and for cocktails.
The cuisine at Tess de Mar
The food is Mediterranean, with signature dishes combining Mallorcan gastronomy with a touch of modern and international cuisine.
The dishes are based on seasonal ‘0km’ local produce – and the internationally experienced chef intends to stimulate Tess de Mar’s customers’ five senses through his seasonally changing menu of innovative dishes.
The chef
The 36-year-old chef Juan Manuel Ocampo was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of 19, he moved to Marbella, cooking in beach restaurants, grills, Italian, and other restaurants. Two years later he returned to study gastronomy in South America and further develop his culinary career. In South America he worked in Uruguay, Mexico City, and his native Argentina – where he worked his way up to sous chef at the Restaurante Duhau at the Palacio Duhau Park Hyatt Buenos Aires.
He moved to Dubai, working as sous chef in a Modern Latin-American restaurant in the Jumeirah Beach Hotel; two years later he moved to the 5-star Hyatt Regency Dubai as chef de cuisine.
In 2016 Juan Manuel Ocampo moved to Mallorca to work on the opening of Sa Creu Art Hotel & Spa and Tess de Mar.
