Welcome to the summer edition of abcMallorca. While we can all breath a sigh of relief to see the restaurants, beaches and streets busy once again with tourists, the memory of the harsh winter when visitors were few and far between, is not forgotten. Indeed many of my fellow business owners fear the worst for the winter ahead.
In spite of all this doom and gloom, I believe there are some positives as a result of the economic situation for Mallorca and indeed worldwide. We have all been forced to look at the way we do business, and how we attract our customers. Nowadays consumers get a much better deal and service than they did in the past. Maintaining a high quality product and service while reducing prices to attract business has become the norm.
Innovation, creativity and ‘thinking outside the box’ is the crucial competence that is ensuring the survival of the nimblest who will come out of this period stronger, fitter and much closer to fulfilling what customer actually need and want. Read more about this subject in The Last Word where Ingrid Browning looks at how business owners can innovate their way to survival.
We visit Port of Sóller and Sóller town to find out the best places for you to eat and what a fabulous choice you have in store, with quality and prices that are amazing. One visit just won’t be enough!
This edition is packed with lots of interesting ideas for summer activities and outings to enjoy plus interviews with the director of the Planetarium and top female chef Caty Pieras and island newcomer Kate Greaves who tells us how to make an income from renting your property for location shoots. We have all the usual features, including the Property Report, the Opinion and the What’s on guide. Don’t miss the Elton John and Andrea Bocelli concert on the 4th of September – it will be amazing.
