The attractive-looking restaurant Sa Barca in Port de Sóller (opened in 2014) has an appealing large front terrace with comfortable sink-into chairs and wooden tables.
Jürgen Lichtenauer and his wife Andrea Müller fell in love with Mallorca and moved here – together with their Korean-born chef Thom Bell – leaving the island of Sylt in Germany, where they’d had a restaurant for 12 years.
Sa Barca’s exquisite cuisine offers a high-quality “menu del día“, as well as an à la carte menu and tapas. If you want to come at night to watch the gorgeous sunset be sure to book in advance.
How would you describe your cuisine (what style)?
It’s a ‘crossover’, with an Asian touch.
What are you hoping your clients feel when eating your food?
We want them to feel freshness, quality and quantity.
What do you think makes a restaurant successful?
The keys are a lot of ambience, good quality and a good service.
What is your personal favourite dish to eat and which one to cook?
To eat it would be fresh tuna tatar or a good ceviche. I love cooking fresh fish.
Which chefs or experience (travels) had the most influence on your own cooking?
Restaurante Emilio Innobar in Palma.
On a night off, where is your favourite place on Mallorca to eat?
Restaurante Emilio Innobar or Marc Fosh.
TripAdvisor: friend or foe, and why?
Both. Foe because they exaggerate and friend because we receive a lot of positive comments.
What are your thoughts about the restaurant scene on Mallorca?
It’s really good, the quality of the products is high and you can find excellent restaurants.
