‘Fincas‘ as they are called in Spanish, refer to rural farms that were generally once agrarian. Traditional features of these buildings have become signatures of a much-emulated Spanish rustic decorating style; uneven plaster white washed walls, rough hewn wood beams, and cobbled stone and terra cotta floors are defining elements. For those that are interested in a glimpse of authentic Mallorca discreetly adapted to 21st century needs, Finca El Coto es perfecto.
Holiday villa location
In a typical rural Mallorcan setting, Finca El Coto is surrounded by lush green Mediterranean garden of tall palms and vibrant bougainvillea creating shade under the great pergolas. The property is located just 3 kms from one of the island´s most special beaches, S’Amarador. The historic and beautiful Santanyi is the closest town with wonderful restaurants, shopping and a twice weekly market selling local crafts. Tennis and golf courses are just minutes away.
Overview of the villa
Finca El Coto reflects the interesting position the island has occupied historically in the Mediterranean; traditional Mallorcan rustic pieces are mixed with old world Spanish furnishings and Moroccan rugs. A visit is like going to the home of a well-traveled friend. The bedrooms look out over the gardens, where you can soak up the sun poolside or lounge under the pergolas, studying the exquisite variety of plantings in the garden. The great green lawn invites games and laying in the cool grass under the stars at night.
The villa has five well appointed Iberian-influenced bedrooms. Two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms are separate off the terrace in an annex and open into the lush garden. The breezy master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and a private terrace on the first floor . On the ground floor are two lovely bedrooms with twin beds. These rooms share a bathroom.
The house has been cleverly renovated such that it accommodates modern living while maintaining the integrity of the original structure. In Mallorca, we live a plein air in the summertime. At the end of May, most of the green grasses and spring flowers are gone, and only the hardiest plants-jasmine, roses, agapanthis and bougainvillea bloom in the summer. A private terrace covered in trumpet vines and jasmine shade a large outdoor dining area for dinners under the stars or a long Spanish lunch. The pool is set in the middle of a Moorish style garden has chaises longues for sunbathing. There is a cloistered outdoor lounge for quiet reading.
