Excitement is building for the island’s hotly-awaited 2016 tennis event, the WTA Mallorca Open. Hundreds gathered at the WTA Mallorca pre-opening party, held at the Country Club Tennis Academy Santa Ponsa.
Serbian star player Ana Ivanovic was in attendance, hitting the first ball on the centre court of the stunning new facility in the heart of the south west. Along with tennis great Carlos Moya and Toni Nadal, trainer and uncle of Rafa Nadal, Ivanovic officially opened the natural grass court created especially for the competition.
Around 300 guests enjoyed live music and drinks, accompanied by canapes and one of the greatest surprises of all – an enormous edible tennis ball made out of 600 ensaimadas!
WTA Mallorca Open will take place from 13 to 19 June 2016. More information can be obtained from www.wtamallorca.com.
