This restaurant has been around since 1969 and has changed hands only three times in its 40-plus years; it’s a very popular eatery with the locals who know quality food and appreciate good service.
Situated in the fashionable area of Santa Catalina, Restaurante Xoriguer regularly receives fantastic reviews on websites such as TripAdvisor: “If you only have one meal in Palma have it here,” one reviewer wrote. “We had a superb meal.” Another – a lady from London – said: “This restaurant is absolutely wonderful, especially if you are a meat lover.”
The cuisine is traditional Basque and this year they offer a menu that coincides with the arrival of the new cider in the kupelas (barrels). Dishes such as cod omelette, or cod fillet confit with green peppers and chillies, or the Idiazabal cheese (made from unpasteurised sheep’s milk) with quince and walnuts, are all prepared with cider from Astigarraga (an area in the Basque region).
In addition, you can eat the best of Kobe beef or Black Angus steaks at the Xoriguer and this is how it has built an excellent reputation over many years.
