End to EU Stalemate on the Transfer of Yachting Qualifications.
Currently those with yachting qualifications are not able to transfer them as they move around Europe. Each European country requires licence holders to re-qualify even if the boat is exactly the same.
The TRECVET Project was created in order to break down each countries qualifications into component parts for comparison in order to ignite change.
Focussing on small vessels, TRECVET has been working toward mutual recognition of comparable qualifications across EU member states.
If these changes are successful, Mediterranean crews in particular will see a benefit. Yachts will be able to have access to a greater variety of suitable candidates.
There have been many who have stated that current regulations are against the EU’s stance on the free movement of labour as it clearly restricts those who work directly with yachts. Candidates have been trying to get past this bureaucratic restrictions with the RYA due to its international status but this is unable to overcome all qualification transfer problems encountered.
TRECVET’s End of Project Conference is scheduled for September 20th in Palma de Mallorca and is admission-free.
